Friday April 24, 2009 is Mayor David Miller's Community Clean Up Day. The BIA has participated in this event for the past few years by cleaning along St. Clair Avenue West .
This year, we are outreaching to the schools / students in the surrounding area to turn this into a 'Students for St. Clair Community Clean up Day".
We know that the morale of shopkeepers on St. Clair could use a boost and we think this is a good way to show that the community supports local St. Clair merchants through this period of construction.
The WHBIA extends from Bathurst (Loblaws) to Christie (on the south) and Humewood (on the north).
We are asking that students and their teacher/chaperones come out to show their commitment to the clean up day at 2:00pm and participate by cleaning up on St. Clair West and on Vaughan Road (1 block south of St. Clair). We estimate that the clean up will take approximately 30 minutes. Gloves and bags will be provided. Green Team t-shirts will also be provided to team captains.
We will meet in front of Shoppers Drug Mart at 523 St. Clair Avenue West at 1:45pm.
